How reliable is the information on this site?

On the internet, it is important to know whether the information you are reading is reliable. This site has been written to meet Health on the Net guidelines, a foundation whose objectives we support. The pages in this public information (FAQ) section were written by Michael Ward (the web master), an internationally known chlamydial researcher, who is an emeritus Professor of Medical Microbiology in the University of Southampton, England.

Chris Owen and Marie Goldsmith of Health Promotion England, professional health educators, provided much valuable material and advice on which these web pages were based.

Two renowned medically qualified specialists on sexually transmitted infections originally reviewed these public information pages. Professor Angelika Stary (Vienna) is President of the International Union against Sexually Transmitted Infections (the IUSTI). Dr Basu Roy (Bournemouth) is a former president of the British Association for Sexual health and HIV (BASHH). Both are clinicians with many years experience of diagnosing and treating sexually transmitted infections.

The cartoons on this site, by Ros Asquith,  first appeared in the Health Education Authority leaflet "Chlamydia and NSU". Ros has made a speciality of health-related cartoons and generously permitted these cartoons to be published here.

The information on this site has been carefully checked and the associated scientific basis is referenced on the accompanying professional site
