Envelope proteins

Omp85

Omp85 is a conserved outer envelope protein found in a number of bacteria, including N. gonorrhoeae, T. pallidum and H. influenzae. Its function is unknown, although it seems to be a common antigen. Omp85 is immunoaccessible at the chlamydial surface and antibody to it can neutralize chlamydial infectivity in vitro. In liposome swelling assays, no porin activity has been detected for Omp85 [Stephens & Lammel, 2000].
