[JWM]  James Moulder: Evolution of the Order Chlamydiales

 

James W Moulder is Professor Emeritus at the University of Chicago and visiting scientist at the University of Arizona in Tucson. He received his undergraduate and graduate training in the Department of Biochemistry of the University of Chicago and in 1946 moved to the Department of Microbiology at the same institution, where he remained until his retirement in 1986. Since then, he has been associated with the Department of Microbiology and Immunology of the University of Arizona. Professor Moulder was a fellow of the John Simon Guggenhein Foundation and senior Fulbright research scholar at the University of Oxford in 1952 - 1953. He received the Eli Lilly Award in bacteriology and immunology in 1954. He was Editor of the Journal of Infectious Diseases from 1957 to 1968, a member of the Board of Trustees of the Bergey's Manual Trust from 1981 to 1989 (Bergey Medal, 1999) and a Burroughs-Wellcome visiting professor at Western Kentucky University in 1984. Professor Moulder is an honorary member of both the American Society of Microbiology and the American Society for Rickettsiology and Rickettsial Diseases. He also belongs to the American Society for Biochemistry and Molecular Biology and the American Association for the Advancement of Science. He is the author of numerous publications on chlamydiae and on general aspects of intracellular parasitism.
